When people ask me what my number one tip for entrepreneurs, bloggers, and big dreaming girls is? It’s always read, read, and read more. A good book will infuse your brain with new knowledge, keep you inspired, and spark new ideas. If you don’t feel like you have time to read – trust me, I don’t either! Audiobooks are going to be your best friend. Pop on some headphones and jam away to inspirational and informational books at work, on the treadmill, or before you fall asleep. Make your car your personal inspiration studio with badass books and podcasts. There’s something about a real life book that I find very zen, so a paperback before bed or on vacay is a must.

Here are my recommended reads for the Summer to get your motivation flowing and keep your Kindle stocked ’til Fall:

  1. Beyond Willpower by Alexander Lloyd

Ugh, I cannot say enough about this book. Beyond Willpower is my motivation bible. I don’t say this often, but this book will change your life. It’s full of straightforward, no B.S. wisdom that will help you get past any negative habits or beliefs you’ve developed, and reprogram your brain for success in a way that actually works. I read this first in the Kindle edition, then downloaded the audiobook and I’ve probably listened to it 12 times (no joke). Anytime I get off track or fall into old habits, I put this baby on repeat.

 2.  Secrets of Six Figure Women by Barbara Stanny

What I really like about this book is that it’s not a self help book – it’s not even an advice book. It’s just a real, down to earth study of what makes (self made) wealthy women wealthy and successful. All of the stories and perspectives are unique, which is refreshing and interesting. There’s an emphasis on how women often program themselves to be ‘underearners’ – aka, sell themselves short, and real world examples of how successful women overcame the self sabotage to build big bank accounts and big dreams. Highly recommend.

  3. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

Jen Sincero is definitely a badass, and I have a huge girl crush on her. I listened to this book on audiobook and fell in love – Jen has a smart, sassy, inspirational message that doesn’t possess even a smidge of self-help-ness. Her ability to motivate and inspire with real talk makes her feel like your best friend and a swift kick in the ass all rolled into one. This book will help you find lost confidence and get fired up to go big or go home (then go big again).

4. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

This isn’t my usual kind of read – I’m less into fluffy, happy and more into actionable advice, but I actually loved this book. Confession: I have never read Eat, Pray, Love and I’ve never seen the movie. I picked up this book from Audible on a whim and was totally hooked after listening to the first chapter. Turns out, Elizabeth Gilbert speaks my language: self made magic in the real world. Her stories are uplifting and will put a smile on your face, and let’s face it: smiling is really good for you. I definitely recommend grabbing this as an audiobook – the author narrates and does a great job at speaking from the heart.
